Let’s escape into these magnificent, magical, and illuminating displays that usher us into vastly different worlds…traditional  and beautiful Tang Dynasty China ; Jurassic kingdom populated with dinosaurs ; futuristic, sci-fi fantasy universe ; good ole Halloween fun in the USA.

The 2024 Los Angeles Lantern Art Expo is massive with 30+ large lantern displays, live performances, and 100+ booths for food stalls, art vendors, and other merch. And we plan to frolic in all its glowing glory! This would be the perfect place to wear any Halloween costumes, especially if they match the displays. (Han fu, anyone?)

SCHEDULE:

Arrive by around 4:15 pm to park and possibly use the extra time to find the restroom, get food/drink before the lines get long, rent/purchase a Han fu outfit and start looking for TAP-LA board/committee members and other attendees that may be near the grand dragon entrance. (display #01)

5:00 pm Gather and check in with the host at the large Chinese lady lantern (display #17), close to the red dragons lantern main entrance. (See map link above.)

5:15 pm After checking in, the host will help you and other attendees to group up and begin exploring together. All groups start at Chinese lady lantern display #17 and continue on to Display #s 2,3, & 4. From Display #4 onward, groups and attendees may roam where they like. Please be advised to explore clock-wise in case we are trying to find you. Also, there are 30+ lantern displays and live performances that are the highlights of the event. Waiting in long lines at the food stalls or shopping should be reserved for after 7 pm. The host will stay and wait in front of the Chinese lady lantern for incoming attendees to form additional groups as needed until 5:45 pm.

If you arrive after 5:45 pm, you may try to finding the host with the last group walking through Display #’s 2,3,4, and 5 still.

7:00 pm All groups and late attendees reunite at the Phoenix lantern Display #11, directly opposite of the entrance. Host will make final announcements and help form new groups for the last remaining hour. Groups may be formed based on interests and preferences (ie lantern displays vs food/art vendors vs live performances)

8:00 pm Although the TAP-LA hosted event ends at 8 pm, the Expo venue closes at 11 pm. Feel free to enjoy all the sights, sounds, and food with your TAP friends as long as you’d like!
